Legal Principles

Investor fraud remains prevalent in today's business world, both with investments in pubicly-traded companies and privately-held companies, partnerships and joint ventures. Yet the major challenge for most investors is that the fraudsters are increasingly sophisticated and deceptive, such that identifying investor fraud can be extremely difficult, especially when you don't know what you are looking for. As such, investors all too frequently are looking directly at the fraudulent activity and are completely unaware that they are being defrauded.

Having previously worked for many years in New York City investigating and pursuing Wall Street based investor fraud, through commercial litigation and securities arbitration, I have tackled these sometimes sophisticated schemes (although many are also blatant unsophisticated efforts to defraud gullible investors) and sought to recover the ill-gotten gains of these charlatans and con-artists. And the fact that my focus is now placed on Calgary and Alberta, has not really changed the situation, other than for the investors being somewhat more gullible than their counterparts in the United States (given a Canadian mentality to be more trusting and believe that such investor fraud occurs principally south of the border).

For the stark reality is that investor fraud can happen in all forms of investment, from oil & gas to real estate, from publicly-traded companies to privately-held corporations and joint ventures, from stock promoters to investment advisors and mutual fund advisors [see stock broker fraud], for the individuals who might seek to defraud you are considerable.

Therefore, should you believe that you may have been the victim of investor fraud, such that you might have been defrauded, Neufeld Legal P.C. has the experience and ability to tackle such instances of investor fraud. For more information, contact our law firm at or by telephone at 403-400-4092.
